About AH5

Tools and guides for people who live across borders

AH5 is an independently operated publication focused on the financial, legal, and practical questions that arise when you live, work, study, or send money across national borders. We build premium calculators and write in-depth original guides for expats, digital nomads, international students, remote workers, and the families that support them.

What we believe

The internet is full of shallow content written to fill search-engine quotas. Most "calculator" sites scrape data from each other, republish the same handful of figures, and surround them with thin text designed to display ads. The result is a web where finding a reliable answer to a real cross-border question — how much does it actually cost to raise a child in Dubai, what is the real difference between Spanish and Portuguese nomad visas, what gets forfeited when you switch jobs internationally — requires hours of cross-referencing primary sources.

We are building the opposite. Every calculator on this site is coded from scratch with current, primary-source data. Every article is written originally by our editorial team — no scraping, no spinning, no AI-generated filler. Where we cite data, we link to the source. Where rules change, we update the content. Where methodology matters, we expose it.

Who we are

The AH5 Editorial Team is a small group of writers and developers with personal experience of the cross-border life we cover. We have lived and worked across the Gulf, South Asia, Western Europe, and East Asia. We have navigated the visas, tax rules, banking systems, and remittance corridors we write about. We are not affiliated with any government, bank, remittance provider, or insurance company, and we do not accept paid placements or sponsored content.

You can reach us at contact@ah5.shop with questions, corrections, or suggestions for new tools and guides. We read every email and respond to substantive queries within a few business days.

Our editorial standards

Every article and calculator on this site meets four standards:

  • Original. Written from scratch by our team. We do not scrape, rewrite, or republish content from other sources. Where we reference external data, we link to it.
  • Sourced. We cite primary sources — central banks, labour ministries, embassy pages, official gazettes — wherever possible. Secondary sources are clearly identified as such.
  • Updated. Rules change. Tax brackets shift. Visa thresholds rise. We monitor official sources and update content as the real world changes, with a "last updated" date on every article.
  • Transparent. Calculator methodology is exposed in the page source. Article logic is laid out for inspection. If you disagree with our numbers, you can see exactly how we arrived at them.

What we do not do

For clarity, here is what you will not find on this site:

  • No scraped or spun content from other websites.
  • No AI-generated text published without substantial human editing and verification.
  • No paid placements disguised as editorial content.
  • No affiliate links to financial products we have not independently reviewed.
  • No collection of personal financial data through our calculators. Every calculation runs in your browser and the inputs never leave your device.

How we fund the site

The Site is currently funded and operated independently, with no advertising and no paid placements. We do not accept payment for editorial coverage, paid reviews, or "sponsored tools." The tools and articles you see are the tools and articles we decided to build, full stop.

If we add display advertising in the future, it will be clearly labelled as advertising and confined to designated ad slots. Editorial content will never be influenced by advertisers. Should you wish to support the site, the best way is to share it with people who would find it useful.

How to use this site

The calculators are designed to answer specific financial and practical questions — use them when you have a decision to make and need numbers to inform it. The guides are designed for when you need broader context — read them when you want to understand how a system works, not just what the answer is for your specific case.

Neither is a substitute for professional advice. For decisions with significant financial or legal consequences — immigration applications, tax filings, large investments, estate planning — consult a qualified professional who can review your specific circumstances. Our content is informational only. See our full disclaimer.
